Uber Technologies Inc. is teaming up with electric vehicle maker Lucid Group Inc. and self-driving tech startup Nuro to launch a robotaxi fleet.

Uber is investing hundreds of millions of dollars into Lucid and autonomous vehicle technology startup Nuro in a bid to launch its own robotaxi service.

Uber plans to deploy 20,000 or more Lucid electric SUVs equipped with the Nuro Driver autonomous system in over a dozen global cities. Nuro's Nuro Driver is a Level 4 self-driving system trained on and powered by Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
