The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots movement of atomic-bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said the group,

The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo for its work to "achieve a world free of nuclear weapons."

Nihon Hidankyo uses the testimony of those who survived the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings to campaign for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
