Louisville football dropped to 1-1 in ACC after its loss to SMU at L&N Stadium. The Louisville Cardinals are now on the outside of the ACC title race.

No. 22 Louisville lost 34–27 to SMU on Saturday after an apparent fumble by Mustangs running back Brashard Smith was overturned on a replay review. Smith looked as if he fumbled after gaining 19 yards on a rush to the Louisville 13-yard line and the ball was recovered by the Cardinals.

The SMU Mustangs have had plenty of horsepower in their first season as an ACC member. Following a 34-27 road win over Associated Press No. 22 Louisville (3-2, 0-1 in ACC), SMU (5-1, 2-0 in ACC) is a legitimate contender to reach the conference title game.
