Israel’s intensifying attacks on Lebanon in its expanding war against Hezbollah and the armed group’s allies continued overnight into early Saturday. Strikes near Beirut were ongoing on Saturday morning, according to Lebanese state media, and Hamas said one of its officials had been killed in a strike in the country’s north.

Israel said it had targeted the intelligence headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut overnight and was assessing the damage on Friday after a series of strikes on senior figures in the group that Iran's Supreme Leader dismissed as counterproductive.
