The devastating flash floods that ripped through Central Texas Friday night have now claimed 119 lives-making the disaster deadlier than Hurricane Harvey, one of the worst natural disasters in the state's history.

After flash floods devastated central Texas over Fourth of July weekend, the death toll continues to rise and more than 170 people remain missing.

According to local authorities, at least 109 people died on July 4 and 5, most of which were swept up in floodwaters from campgrounds along the Guadalupe River. That’s just shy of the 118 deaths reported as a result of Hurricane Rita in 2005.
