A juror on the Menendez brothers’ trial said she believes that today’s world would have been more understanding about the complexity of the trauma suffered by sexual abuse victims — and would have acquitted the brothers of the 1989 murder of their parents.

A juror on the Menendez brothers’ trial thinks the more educated and woke world of today could have saved them.

"The men did not believe that Jose (Menendez) had been abusing his sons," Thornton said Thursday on "Banfield."

The evidence prosecutors plan to consider includes a letter allegedly penned by Erik Menendez eight months before the murders and claims by another man that Jose Menendez sexually assaulted him in the 1980s.

Erik and Lyle Menendez were convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Los Angeles prosecutors said this week they are taking another look at the case.

The brothers have said they killed their parents out of self-defense after enduring a lifetime of physical, emotional and sexual abuse from them.

The L.A. County district attorney is reviewing the case involving the brothers, who were convicted of shooting their parents to death in their Beverly Hills home.
