Hosts Switzerland began their women's Euro 2025 campaign with a 2-1 defeat by twice champions Norway on Wednesday despite dominating possession and chances. Swiss wing back Nadine Riesen netted off the near post midway through the first half after sustained pressure in the Group A clash.

Switzerland took the lead against Norway but fell to a 2-1 defeat on home soil after scoring an own goal on the opening day of the Women's Euro 2025 championship on Wednesday, with Norwegian captain Ada Hegerberg netting the equaliser and missing a penalty.
